Locate your device on a map using IP and GPS

You will see the map for a few seconds; to keep viewing it, you will be asked for a one-time payment. The amount is confirmed on the payment screen before you pay.

How it works

  1. Search by Browser: your browser asks you for permission and uses the location your device gives it (GPS, Wi-Fi or mobile network, depending on the device) to locate you. The coordinates are sent to OpenStreetMap (Nominatim) to determine which country you are in.
  2. Search by IP: an approximate location is obtained from your IP address, which is sent to a geolocation service (GeoJS), without asking for permissions.
  3. In both cases the map shows an approximate point, because a random variation of a few kilometers is added. The cell tower markers are illustrative and do not represent real towers.
  4. To keep viewing the map, you are asked for a one-time payment that Stripe processes. The payment does not create an account or save your access: another search, or reloading the page, may ask for another payment. The price may vary depending on your country and is confirmed on the payment screen before you pay.

Frequently asked questions

How accurate is the location?

With the IP address, it usually gets the country right and sometimes the city; it can fail with a VPN, a proxy or mobile data. With the browser’s location the result is closer to your real position. In both cases the map adds a random variation of a few kilometers, so it is an approximate location and not an exact address.

Can I locate another person’s phone?

No. This site cannot locate other people’s phones and does not query any network or carrier. It only shows an approximate location of your own device.

Why does it ask me for location permission?

Only if you choose Search by Browser, so that it can use your device’s location. You can decline and use Search by IP, which does not ask for permissions.

What data is stored?

We record your visit activity (for example, which button you used), your country and language, an approximate location when you perform a search, a browser analytics identifier, the campaign parameters if you arrive from an ad and, if you use the simulator, the phone number you enter. Your IP address remains in the server’s access logs, and the server uses it to estimate your country; it is only sent to a geolocation service (GeoJS) if you choose Search by IP or use the simulator. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, measurement is only activated if you accept it in the cookie notice. More details in the privacy policy.
